Stacy’s Take on Treatment

“Change is hard and takes a great deal of courage to even consider beginning treatment. It’s that strength within each person that continues to build confidence as they progress in treatment. People often don’t realize how small their lives have become until they conquer their fears and anxieties and then the sky is the limit.”

Approach to Therapy

Stacy strongly believes in developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship with every patient. Dedicating time and patience to understand an individual’s strengths and goals is essential in creating a treatment plan and charting the course for working together. Using a variety of research backed interventions, Stacy helps her clients navigate their way through treatment to find the anxiety-free lives they deserve. Because families are an integral part of our lives she ensures they are involved in the therapy process as well. Stacy’s warm, straight forward and genuine approach makes it easy for her to connect with her patients and their families.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, she skillfully utilizes a patient-specific combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) including mindfulness and exposure based interventions to help people overcome the fears and anxieties that have held them back from living their fullest life. By providing parenting support and empowering patients to teach family effective ways to provide needed support, Stacy helps patients build their confidence and practice skills outside of sessions.

Experience and Training

Stacy earned her bachelor’s degree Northern Illinois University and started her professional career as a special education teacher working with students with learning and emotional disabilities. She has taught both middle and high school students in public and private alternative schools. Stacy went on to earn her master’s degree in counseling from National Louis University and took additional coursework to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Prior to joining The OCD & Anxiety Center, Stacy has provided care in community mental health, providing crisis intervention and family therapy to high conflict families and struggling teens. Most recently, she provided individual, group and family therapy in a hospital based program for adolescents. Stacy successfully treats children, adolescents and adults with anxiety including generalized anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, phobias, school refusal and social anxiety as well as ADHD, depression, mood disorders and substance abuse that often accompany anxiety disorders.
